Publication alert: Early Intervention Service Intensity and Home Participation

We are thrilled to announce the publication of our new article, Early Intervention Service Intensity and Home Participation, in BMC Pediatrics! This research article is coauthored by lab members Mary and Vera and reports on the findings of an NIH R03 project. This research article studies the relationship between early intervention (EI) service use and children’s home participation. Through the implementation of the Young Children's Participation and Environment Measure (YC-PEM) electronic patient-reported outcome (e-PRO), results show that EI service intensity had a significant direct effect on a child’s participation. EI service intensity has important links with involvement and desired change for home-based activities. Caregiver perceptions of environmental support also appears to be a factor in the relationship between EI service intensity and home participation. This study provides further evidence of implementing the YC-PEM e-PRO to further accelerate patient-centered outcomes research in EI.
