CPERL Alum Spotlight: Rachel Ohene
As we prepare to test the implementation of the Participation and Environment Measure Plus, we look back on a special CPERL alum, Rachel Ohene, who carried the torch in recruiting nearly 400 families to enroll in the initial validation of the Young Children's Participation and Environment Measure and then co-authored a presentation on it at ZERO TO THREE conference. More than a decade later, Rachel has pivoted to launch an innovative private practice, Liberate Pelvic Health, and has been featured in a podcast highlighting how eating disorders and health disparities manifest in pelvic health.
Rachel recently completed a Standing for Research Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (STRIDE) mentored scholarship award from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation, mentored by Dr. Leanne Yinusa-Nyahkoon. Through this award, she was mentored to design a qualitative study and titled, An Occupational Therapist's Experience Designing Anti-Racism Research in Occupational Therapy Practice. She presented her work at the 2024 American Occupational Therapy Association INSPIRE conference and has plans to carry this work forward.
We are excited to see how Rachel will continue to build her private practice in ways that engage research.
