A CPERL Welcome to a Postdoc with Purpose, Productivity, and Plans

Mary and Sabrin in lab, beginning to sketch her big picture plan

Sabrin Rizk, PhD, OTR/L is a promising pediatric health services researcher committed to improving service access

CPERL welcomes a new colleague, Dr. Sabrin Rizk, to our team! Sabrin is a Bridge to the Faculty (B2F) Scholar we are hosting her during her postdoctoral phase of training for "an individual with a doctoral degree who is engaged in a temporary period of mentored research and/or scholarly training".

Sabrin is our second postdoctoral scholar to contribute and grow as part of our team. Sabrin is a pediatric occupational therapist and health services researcher and, as such, brings distinct yet complementary interests and approaches to understanding service access, use, and outcomes for children with developmental needs and their families. As her new co-authored publication in Disability and Health Journal highlights, Sabrin makes important contributions to operationalizing the concept of a 'medical home primary care' for large data research examining its relationship to service access during early childhood.

This past month, Sabrin has been 'stepping on to the bridge' by working closely with Mary, her primary postdoctoral mentor, to design and gain momentum for a focused research agenda that will be used to guide decision-making about resources, activities, and opportunities to pursue in the near term. This research agenda includes her dissertation research that is being disseminated in close partnership with her interdisciplinary mentor team, inclusive of Drs. Barnekow, Benevides, and Ngui.

In just a few weeks, Sabrin is showing us that she is a promising postdoc with purpose, productivity, and plans. Stay tuned!
