New NIH Grant on Early Intervention
CPERL launches work on an NIH R03 titled "Early Intervention Outcomes Research Using Innovative Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) Measures". This project is funded by the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research (NCMRR) in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute on Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and involves collaboration with Beth McManus, PT, MPH, ScD (PI) and Richard Lindrooth (Co-I), both of the Colorado School of Public Health. Together, they will partner with one of the largest early intervention providers in Denver Metro to access billing data and newly acquired functional outcomes data with which to examine relationships between early intervention service use and functional outcomes for service eligible families. This interdisciplinary project leverages the Young Children’s Participation and Environment Measure (YC-PEM) as a key assessment for project completion. Results of an NIH pilot study funded by the Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI) have optimized the study protocol.
We have opportunities for student involvement with technology-based data collection for this project. These are paid research internships offered on a rolling basis. Please visit the 'contact' page or send an email to mkhetani@uic.edu to learn more. We look forward to hearing from you!
