Publication Alert: Breaking new ground on cross-sector pediatric care
We are delighted to announce that Sabrin Rizk has successfully led her team to publish an important study in BMC Pediatrics. This study lays an important foundation for her pediatric health services research agenda, by leveraging a national data source to establish a negative association between medical home primary care and educational service use among children and youth with autism spectrum disorder, as attenuated by select child and family characteristics. The study, as previously presented on, breaks new ground in characterizing cross-sector pediatric care for this target population that often seeks access to educational services in early intervention and school-based services. It therefore provides important initial insights to warrant subsequent studies that she has and is undertaking to further unpack this relationship in her postdoctoral training phase and prior to her transition to our UIC OT faculty.
