Publication Alert: Diversifying caregiver input to upgrade the YC-PEM
In alignment with our lab's anti-racist research agenda, CPERL has teamed up to publish a new article titled, Diversified caregiver input to upgrade the Young Children's Participation and Environment Measure (YC-PEM) for equitable pediatric re/habilitation practice, in the Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes.
The purpose of this study was to examine historically minoritized caregivers’ responses to proposed YC-PEM content modifications and their perspectives on core intelligent virtual agent functionality needed to improve its reach for equitable service design. CPERL team member Vivian led the way in effectively engaging fellow team members Dianna, Zuri, and Mary to work in academic community partnership with colleagues Michelle Phoenix and Rachel Teplicky at CanChild, Natalie Parde at UIC, and the High Value Early Intervention Group that remains housed at an early intervention program in Colorado.
Results will inform upgrades to the YC-PEM as an evidence-based and promising electronic patient-reported outcome that shows preliminary effectiveness for implementation to advance equitable early intervention practice.
