Publication Alert: Early intervention service intensity linked to gains in cognitive and social functioning

Mary and Briana, together with colleagues in Colorado, co-authored a paper recently accepted for publication in Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This paper involved secondary analyses of data on approximately 1,000 families who were discharged from a large, urban early intervention program. Data on their early intervention service intensity were significantly associated with gains in two of three state-mandated child functioning scores (i.e., their cognitive and social functional capabilities), between service entry and exit. These results help to lend evidence of the value of EI outcomes reporting to demonstrate links between services and rehabilitation relevant outcomes. This is also the first refereed paper to include members of the High Value Early Intervention Writing Group as co-authors. The onboarding of practitioners to this writing group was the focus of Briana's doctoral project, as recently published.
