We are excited to announce that Vera has been awarded the 2022-2023 AHS Achievement Award presented by the UIC College of Applied Health Sciences. The Achievement Award is given to one student from each program selected by the faculty, based on their overall academic performance and their potential for becoming an outstanding practitioner in their field and who has demonstrated leadership or provided service to the campus or their profession. Vera will receive her award at the AHS Night: Under the Stars later this month.

Vera shares: This was such an unexpected and most wonderful surprise to receive this award. I know this recognition reflects a team effort and I am sincerely thankful to my main mentor, Dr. Mary Khetani, as well as my dissertation committee (Drs. Natalie Parde, Dana Anaby, Martha Werler, Andy Boyd) for all their support along this journey. It has been such a fun ride, and receiving such an award for it feels like “the cherry on top of the cake”.

We congratulate Vera on this remarkable achievement that reflects her teamwork and dedication to the College of AHS throughout her PhD studies. We cannot wait to see her continued research trajectory, including the advancement of using artificial intelligence to strengthen the design and delivery of participation-focused pediatric care. Congrats, Vera!
