Zuri models the way for transitioning up in CPERL
Zuri is our very first CPERL team member to transition up from undergraduate to graduate study at UIC. This past May, Zuri graduated from her honors undergraduate program of study with a major in Kinesiology, and she chose to begin her MS program in occupational therapy at UIC this Fall. As an aspiring doctoral student, Zuri makes this transition to OT school with the advantage of being able to deepen and grow her knowledge, skills, and contributions to our lab's work as a research assistant.
As an undergraduate research assistant, Zuri was mentored to collect and analyze stakeholder data to produce a clinician tip sheet for increasing YC-PEM uptake and for guiding data-driven optimizations to PEM+ functionality. As a graduate student, Zuri is going to continue engaging stakeholders to upgrade the YC-PEM and PEM+ for use by underrepresented families, and this work is set to strengthen her foundation for designing and conducting an advanced doctoral project.
Zuri's transition up and within UIC makes us #UICProud, hoping that she is the first, but not the last, to take this path.
